| Prominent 4x4 Event moves to Middle TennesseeSparta, TN – Murphy North Carolina’s loss is Sparta Tennessee’s gain this October 2-4. The 23rd Annual “Dixie Run” , Southern Four Wheel Drive Association’s premier 4x4 event , has moved to Middle Tennessee and Sparta’s newest recreational attraction, Golden Mountain OHV Park.Greg Griffith, Dixie Run coordinator, states “The supporting business members of SFWDA and local clubs looked at several different off-road areas in Tennessee and North Carolina seeking something special that would be supported by the local businesses and the land managers. We found that special place at Golden Mountain Park”. Historically, the Dixie Run has an economic impact of over $500,000 to local businesses and vendors. This past year, Murphy North Carolina has lost over twelve off-highway vehicle events due to the closing of Upper Tellico ORV Trails by the federal Forest Service.Nationally, Off-Highway Vehicle participation is one of the fastest growing recreational activities and one of the few that means big dollars for participating states, local governments and businesses.
