What does everyone think of the below bike? Would you do the trade I am embarking on or run away.

This guy is from Louisianna an on Highlifter. I am looking to trade a 60GB Playstation 3 with multiple games an acessories for this bike. Other than the torn\faded decals it looks decent for its age.

He says he had it running once and it had a knocking noise coming from engine side. He thinks an I now think after researching its just the crank bearings. I can get a complete crank rebuild kit for under $50.

I probably have around $1000 of stuff I am trading for it so I don't think its going to be a bad deal as long as it don't turn into too much more trouble.

Just give me your opinions, this same discussion is going on the other forums Southern Offroad Riders also.

He also said this is only a Track bike. Although I might try it out on the trails to an get use to it, does anyone see any problems. With this I will be an recomend Helmet, an other protective clothing.

Thanks,
-Rick

Go with a four-stroke, Ive got a Yammy 450 and it kills a 250 2-stroke, and its easier to ride.

Thanks for the input... and you gave me some input now knowing that it is 2-stroke.

I hopefully already agreed to the trade. Since I am letting a gaming system an alot of games\acessories go do you think it sounds like a good tradeoff. Keep it mind I am probably going to be changing out the crank bearing since it supposedly knocks while running.

A 250 should be a powerful bike.

I hate to say either way, cause I haven't seen the bike in person. One thing about it, 2-strokes are alot cheaper to work on.

I can't say much because I haven't seen it either. At least the current owner sounds honest about it by telling me up front what he thinks the problem is. I will know it better when I see it an try an start it.

Hopefully the only reason causing the motor to knock is the bearing. Since you know dirt bikes have you had problems with Bearings before in the crank?

edit:

is there anything you think I should look at specificially when I see the bike.

No I haven't... can't say it won't happen at some point in time though.
