PostSubject: Grizzly 700 efi   Sun Dec 21, 2008 7:24 pm

Ok guys I have a small problem, I am working on a 07 Yamaha Grizzly 700 efi, and I can not get it to fire up. The fuel system relay has been replaced, and I can jump out the relay to the negitive of the battery and it will fire up, but with a code of 43 which means a direct short. I am just wondering if this will cause any long time problems or what. I would really like to get it fixed with out using the jumper wire, any thoughts will be very appreciated I am at my wits end with this one. Thanks guys

I think Bootlegger can help you with this. He is working on a Grizzly right now in his garage with what sounds like the same problem.

I don't know about the Grizz, but the King Quad has interlocks with the brakes unless the quad is in neutral. Could that be part of the problem.

Might want to walk down the wiring and make sure nothing is uninsulated and grounding to the frame.

You could damage the ecm or the display with any type of jumper. Not saying you will, but you could.

Do you have power to the relay coil?

That means your contact side of the relay is miswired.

I have tried to clear the codes but the code 43 keeps coming back. It started when I replaced the relay for the fuel system.

Depending on the voltage, but on a relay, you will need power on either the coil or the common with your common on the other side of the coil. Your jumper wire should then be on either the N/O or N/C (normaly open or closed) side of the relay depending on the action. It sounds like yours should be on the N/C side. You probably want to check with someone a lot more knowledgeable than I am though.

Shoot RollTide a PM as he is a relay god.
