I noticed that the bracket for the sway bar broke off the A-arm. I rewelded the bracket, but do I really need the sway bar hooked up? It seems unhooking it would help with articulation. What are the pros and cons of running a sway bar off road?

The faster you drive and take turns the more you will notice the sway bar missing.

It sure doesn't appear to be. It is some guy over on ATV Nation.

I was reading up on this " accident " and you always have the 2 sides , ones saying sue Kawi , others always saying its the rider / drivers fault .

In the picture , without seeing what happened , I'd say the roll bar did a darn good job .

If they were wearing the seat belts and stayed sitting straight up ....................... just enough room for them to not get hurt very badly .

I could see if the complete roll bar collapsed or something , that would be a different animal IMO

I'll keep choosing the NON-rolling over trails , but that is why I got insurance on this expensive puppy .

Well Steve I would not say that the cage did a good job but I do agree that there are 2 sides to every story. I don't buy the 5 mph thing.

I have had too many jeeps to mention and have rolled my share of them and I never had a cage calapse on me the way that one did. It appears that they stretched the pipe too much over the drivers head for it to give like that.

It appears to me that the rollover was nose down and tail end up and over then possibly falling onto the left side. Honestly it doesn't look like the pipes are big enough, how tight the pipe is creased, it can't be real thick. JM2C but I would think a thicker wall pipe would have done better in this rollover situation.

yeah , looks like it could use a few more supports / cross braces ? ?

After markets are $ 1300 + but I guess the hospital stay would be 10x's that .

the date on the pic is in o3'...they were not makin the teryx in 03'.....hmm thats intresting!!! the steel tubing is probably a 16 gauge tubing and for the weight of that thing it needs to be at least a 10ga which is a lil over 1/8 of an inch..but 5mph is bull Crap

I wish Paul Harvey was still with us.....so I could hear the rest of the story. That wasn't from a 5mph crash. I never rely on a rollbar for my safety, I try to use common sense.

They probably forgot to set the date on their camera. but you're right a 5mph crash wouldn't do this kinda damage unless the bars were real thin.

I'm with Boot, that's not the result of a 5mph roll-over. I was running 30 mph on my Honda and went off the road, 8 ft down into a creek, and the atv is ridable. If you compare the damages vs speed between mine and this Teryx, my Honda should be totalled and I should be in a cemetery somewhere.

It may have been 5 mph but 5 mph off a cliff might do that kind of damage. the teryx has the only certified rops (roll over protection system) from the factory. someones full of Crap
