PostSubject: Mt. Aetna   Sun May 10, 2009 8:20 pm

I finally got out to Mt. Aetna today and wow it was awesome! This was by far one of the best places I have ridden at. Plenty of mud, hills, bumps, whoops, trails, power lines, and roads.

If you are coming from Nashville on I-24 take Exit 174. Take a right. Then take your first right. This will bring you past cracker Barrell. Take your first right. After that take your first left into a subdivision. You come to a T and there usually is a security guy there. Take a left at the T and there is parking for your trailer. This is a legal place to ride for now.

Hey Matt,

Did you go by yourself. Good for you finding a new place (at least for you) to ride at.

You gonna make it to Pickett next Saturday?

I had a buddy who was going to go and he backed out last night. I had to ride so I just went alone. I knew of this place from my Jeep days. I never made it out here though until now.

Not sure about next weekend. Pickett ended up being a 2.5-3 hour ride for me. That is almost too far for me for a day trip.

Nice pics... looks like a good place to ride. How many miles of trails do they have up there?

There is quite a bit. My odometer read 46 miles after riding all day. I did hit a few spots twice though. I probably only rode 1/2-3/4 of everything they have. Well worth the trip there. Very fun place to ride. There are quite a few places that are fun to play. Mud holes, climbs, etc..

My only problem with the place is many of the people that go here leave beer cans and other litter all over the place. I couldn't imagine this being open much longer because of this. I saw burnt trucks, mufflers, bumpers, beer cans, belts, mirrors, etc...

There is more than beer drinking that goes on up there.

Sounds like a good opportunity for an Adopt a Trail. Get your buddies down there together and have a clean up ride!

Makes me wonder how safe your vehicle would be parked there!

Well, I think that the people are nice. Its just that they go there to wheel and to party. To me you shouldn't mix the two, but what can you do.

Yeah, my biggest fear was some drunk going 70mph through the trails and hitting me. However, I did not see anyone doing this. It seems like most of your drunks are in beat up old trucks, cars, jeeps, etc... They are mostly just doing some mudding and rock climbing so its nothing that bad.

Is that a spot at Aenta or a different riding area? Either way I have not been there.
