Do you want to know what all the fuss is about concerning West Virginia? Do you want to know what makes this place so special to so many people? One place to truly get a sampling of that is at Kathrynís Kabins! There you will find true West Virginia hospitality and be surrounded by West Virginiaís unique beauty.

Kathrynís Kabins are located very conveniently at the edge of the Little Coal River Trail System at the Waterways Trailhead. If you follow U.S. State Route 119 about 20 miles south from Charleston, you will go right by this campground. They are less than a mile from the new Little Coal River Visitor Center. In fact, the Visitor Center and Kathrynís Kabins are also connected by a nice scenic loop that follows along the river and goes past the Waterways Trailhead entrance to the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System.
This loop is the perfect place to warm up a little before hitting the trail, maybe for new riders or getting used to a new vehicle. It is also a great place for a nice walk to chill out after a long day of riding. The river is also great for fishing. Permits for both the fishing and riding can be purchased at the Kabins. We went there mainly for the riding, but after walking along the river and seeing all the fish swimming in the clear water, we had to consider taking Randy up on the opportunity to include fishing in our stay.
Speaking of the proprietor, Randy Blethen is part of what makes Kathrynís Kabins such a great place. He makes everyone feel at home and welcomed at the Kabins. He hung out with us and the other guests almost every night we were there. We even met part of his family and really enjoyed meeting them as well. You can tell he really loves what he does, and that always makes for interesting conversation and guarantees a wonderful stay at the Kabins.

Be sure to plan a night where you can sit out by the fire and maybe have a drink with him. He has some great stories and philosophies about life and will keep you entertained sharing them with you.

Randy was just one example of the stunning friendliness of the West Virginia locals that we met there. Everyone was very nice and friendly and you can really understand why they love calling this place home.

So if you are thinking about heading to West Virginia, give Kathrynís Kabins a call. You will not be disappointed.
Each of the four cabins contain two bunk beds (four beds in each cabin), a microwave, a refrigerator, a coffee pot, table and chairs, ceiling fan, air conditioning and heat, as well as a bathroom with a shower. Bed and bath linens are provided. Free wi-fi is also available for the guests. There are also a couple of fire rings in the courtyard for those late night hotdogs or Símores.

There are also two Kottages available on the property that allow even more sleeping accommodations. They each have all the furnishings included in the cabins plus a full size electric cook stove, refrigerator, sofa, chairs, as well as private sleeping quarters.

Ice, firewood and snacks can be purchased at the Kabins and there are all kinds of restaurants, grocery stores, convenient stations, and almost everything you might want all within 15 minutes of the Kabins.

Be sure to drop by the Visitor Center, too. It is a great place to stop in for information about the Hatfield-McCoy Trail system and this whole region of West Virginia. They also have trail use permits, a complete line of Hatfield-McCoy Trail System merchandise, maps, brochures, history/cultural information, and much more available on site. The people there are just as friendly as Randy proved to be.

I cannot wait for our next visit back to WV and to Kathrynís Kabins, not to mention the Little Coal River Trail System!

To find out more information or to make your reservations, please go to Kathrynís Kabins or call 304-369-2627.

As always: I hope you have an AWESOME day.
