I found out about this the other day from a buddy and they are going to open the park on Aug. 20th. May be a second option other than Houston Valley once they complete all the trails.

Real close for me too... Fairmount is only about 30-40 mins away. Someone at work mentioned this place the other day. Kinda iffy about paying $20 to ride less than 80 miles of trails though, but I'd be willing to check it out at least once. Someone post a ride report if/when you check it out & let us know if it's worth it.

Give you guys a update on the park. The folks there are super nice and really done a great job on what they have done so far. There are 3 or 4 moto cross type tracks based on skill levels. Nice views of the landscape around the park and lots of good trails on the same side of the lookover. Not alot of mud but they said they will be building an area for mud riding. They also have plenty of hillclimbs to try out and I really can't wait to see this place in a year or two. [img]

ouch!!! 20.00 a day per rider?
means no taking the family to ride....
iam not far from fairmount, but in my opinion 20 a day is gouging when your family rides.
thats $100.00 a day for me.
looks like i'll have stick to houston valley and the free places like prentice cooper and the hunter road power lines.

do they not understand they cut their revenue in half by overcharging?

houston valley is 5.00 per atv per day. and does their trail maintenance in the winter months.
and houston valley makes a fortune. i have never been there that the parking lot wasnt absolutely packed.

I guess it's $15 dollar difference in private and federal land per person, but they gotta pay for it somehow. Again this is a great option for some but not all. Georgia really doesn't have a whole lot to offer riders compared to TN. We ride TN. a lot more than GA. but gas and food cut in to the bottom dollar along with the trail system at Motomountain is a lot longer than Houston valley. I've been there and experienced what the place had to offer and the constant work to make the place better. I don't think the whole $20 is going into someone's pocket. imo

iam sur not, but still there are so many free places to ride and with houston valley being cheaper...
you'd be surprized the amount of revenue houston valley brings in at just 5.00 a day

it's all public access, so after seeing how little houston valley costs to run and what they make, iam convinced those charging more are basically just delving into greed.

nice to see more pay places coming, just wish they could get their hearts right on price.

considering that the cost to maintain the land is minimal i dont believe much of that 20.00 goes toward overhead.

There is a cost for doing anything. Paying personnel to crank up a bobcat to maintain an area and then pay for the land tax, insurance, facilities upkeep. Really though, is Houston Valley free to ride? Not really if you figure in what you pay and the federal tax money toward it's upkeep. I'm not going to question price within reason but I not going to say greed. If you do that then you have to include HM trails, Brimstone, Royal Blue, Windrock, etc. If you find a free place to ride, awesome. I look at it as a place to ride and that's what we need, not a place closing or shutting down. Don't get me wrong there are places that I won't go to because I want my moneys worth so I don't go there. I think we all see some kind of cost to ride no matter where we go.

I do not mind paying either as long as it is a decent place and it keeps riding places open.

$20 is not bad, even those "free" places costs something tax money.
