PostSubject: What GPS to buy?   Mon Oct 11, 2010 3:11 pm

I'm sure you guys have answered this question before, but what GPS unit out there should I get? It seems every year they come out with a better model. I just want a good model that will hold up and work well on the trail with some bells and whistles, but not overboard and complicated. Is there a model that works with Google earth? Thanks for your help.

I recommend the Garmin 76CSx. It is a workhorse... very dependable.

If you really want fancy, then the Garmin Oregon 550 comes with a nice onboard camera.

Google Earth imports (receives) data from Garmin, Magellen, & Wintec WBT-201. It works realtime with Garmin PVT and NMEA I/O devices.

Dan, with the new updates and units on the market today, do you have any new recommendations for a GPS?

I'm still using my out dated 76 CSx. It has more capabilities than I need or know how to use. These new models even have more bells and whistles that I don't need and don't want.

I am still using my 76CSx. Very solid unit and never a glitch. I know several other riders that use it also.
