How about an opinion...

The Rinos are nice, but have too much stuffed into a single package. I have a few map clients that are using them with no problem.

I think you could make your $s go much farther with 60CSx, 76CSx, Dakota or Oregon, and just purchase a cheap set of GMRS radios.

Thanks for the reply bro, I am limited to what Sears carries. Here are the other Garmin models that I could get:

Rino 530hcx
Oregon 200, 550, 550t
Several Etrex models
GPS72h
Dakota 10
GPSMAP62, 62s, 62st

The GPSMAP62, 62s, 62st are new versions... looks good, no experience

Dakota/Oregons are touchscreen... OK for SxS with roof... work good...

GPS72H only has 2048 tracklog points... cannot add maps.. I would reject this one...

eTrex "x" versions have extended memory capability which can hold large maps... but smaller and more difficult to operate.

Here is info on all.... https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145

This will be on an ATV, I normally don't ride in the rain but it could get wet. Honestly, I have a hard time understanding the differences in these things. I want something easy to use and that I can add maps to. I also want to learn how to map some of my local areas.

Those newer models are a bit pricey is comparsion to the 60 and 76. On the other hand, those with the new 3-axis compass are kinda neat.

Don't worry about the old part... I'm in my second childhood now and don't intend to ever grow up again...

I guess I'm leaning toward one of the 62's then. Like I said before, I have some money on a Sears card that I need to use for this and since they don't have the 60 or 76, I have to choose between the models that I listed. Now I have to figure out the differences in the 62, 62s and 62st, lol!

I like the price point of the 62 better but it lacks the sd card slot, should this be a deal breaker? Or is the 1.7 gb memory going to be plenty?

I also like the looks of that 550 touch screen...

And why would you get the 62s over the 62? And for the price of the 62s, you could also get the 550 touch screen. I gotta figure this out soon because there's a 10 percent off sale that ends tonight, lol!

The "s" has 3-axis electronic compass that won't work on an ATV. That could be a very nice feature to have if you should have to walk. The ATV creates too much interference on the earth's magnetic field. I keep my compass turned off and only turn it on when I carry it away from the vehicle. It also has a slot for an external memory chip.

The "st" unit has the above plus a builtin topo which uses a large chunk of the internal memory.

You will probably never need an external memory card with all the memory in those units.

I believe the "s" would be my choice also.

It sounds like ill be ordering the 62s, I just can't stop looking at that 550 with the touch screen, but the 62 series does look more rugged.

I got to agree also...if dan says something about a GPS ....Listen to him!

also their is a 3rd Option IF you have not already ordered yet.........and thats Barter! I'm sure their is somebody out their that needs something from sears and you can buy a way better GPS at a WAY cheaper price!

I just got a Garmin GPS 76CSX Handheld GPS with Barometric Altimeter and Electronic Compass for $229.99 W/Free Shipping from amazon .......this thing has more bells and whistles than ill ever use & I also picked up a Ram Mount for $5.86 due to Amazon messing up my order, my raising cane with them.....it never hurts to ask for a Comp!

Link to the one I got!
