PostSubject: Question about North Cumberland - Sundquist Unit   Tue Feb 15, 2011 7:07 pm

Howdy,

I am coming to knoxville this wekend to vist family and was wondering if the North Cumberland - Sundquist Unit riding area has trails sutable for a STOCK Jeep wrangler to just tool around site seeing with the wife and kids?

Nothing crazy just some dirt roads through the mountains, little mudd (remember stock tires), and bumpy, bouncy...

I appreciate the info, we took a oneway road last year that was really cool out of Cades Cove, say some bears, and deer, really beautiful. Real bumpy....

We will be in town Saturday and Sunday, what would be the best day?

Thanks

Yes there are many, many trails that you can ride on. Some may still be a little muddy due to all of the cold and snow but you should be fine on 75% of them.

Saturday there will probably be a lot more people riding. Sunday should be more peaceful.

Thanks, is there a "best" place to enter and pay the fee?

Is it stilll hunting season up there? and if so do you have to wear blaze orange outside your vehicle?

Thanks again.

Hunting is over here, at least big game so no orange. Hopefully Phil and Dan will chime in and will give you some good routes to take your family. They are more knowledgable than I on the area roads.

Get a map at RideRoyalBlue.

From RideRoyalBlue take 27 left on 19. Out to 21 back to 20 to 22 right on 19 then right on 27 back to RideRoyalBlue. That will give you a good ~25 mile loop.

http://www.state.tn.us/twra/gis/miscpdf/NorthCumberland_OHV_2010.pdf

here is a Color map of the Area.....if you know anybody who has a plotter it makes a killer map...but has to be fairly big to see everything due to the small size of the printing, I have one thats like 18"X22" & would be easy to use in a 4X4.

hope that helps you out some & Welcome to the area!
