The one thing I do is clean it top to bottom. That way I can inspect everything to see if a boot is torn or something out of wack.

I would also inspect the air filter and clean/replace as needed. With my old foam filter, I cleaned it and re-oiled it after every 2 rides.

11 grease fittings on the 650 and 800 outlanders. the 400 and 500's have less. Air filter check( depending on the conditions you ride in depends on how often you clean it). Check boots ( cvt and driveline) after every ride. Manual says to inspect your atv before every ride though. A good washing after every ride not only makes your atv look good, but should you find a problem on your machine, if you need to work on it will help keep dirt contamination to a low( if you deal with the fluids).

Basically no different than most atvs out there as far as maintenence. Thing to watch out for on can-ams especially is the grease fittings on the driveshafts. I use Greengrease( available at Tractor supply) since it is marine grade and lasts longer than conventional grease.

Yeah get ready to grease - if you can get the tip through the Uni joint lift it off the floor and you can get to umm .
Be really careful - they used cheap weak steel for the grease fitting .
Ive broke two.
I Ended up grinding my grease gun real thin on the end and it has helped alot .
Spray silicon lube on the rubber on the sway bar - most people use WD40 .
The high end racers just coat the entire bike .
Its crazy but they do it so the mud dont stick .I just spray all the shock mounts and the sway bar -
You got a good skid plate yet ???????
Do the frame mods and get a skid plate .

No skids yet, but they are coming. Lokked at the frame mod a while back but will have to check it out again. Where did you purchase your skids? and about how much? Thanks!

outlanders dont have sway bars they use a torsion bar set up that connects the 2 trailin arms and there is no way of sprayin anything on them unless you pull the dust covers off and then you still wont accomplish anything

Spray every single rubber thing on the entire bike .
Same with King Quads and any other bike .
Try to get under the rubber .
If you dont spray the shock mounts yer Outtty will eventially squeak like a parrot .

Same with the Torsion bar --- uhh the bar that goes from one side to the other side .
it has rubber mounts that the bar goes through - the wd 40 or silicone will work its way down in there and it does great .
Mine was squeaking just this morning and i sprayed it real good rode it around and its not squeaking anymore .

Wildman - why would you say that ?

If he dosent they dry rot faster and mud sticks to everything easier .
Every can am owner i know does this - or at least the racers do it .
Maybe its just a racer thing -
Im looking at two of mine right now .
i cant see no reason why the silicon lube wont get in there and help just a little bit to prevent binding .
What do you suggest leave umm all dry ????

the torsion bar has no rubber what so ever, its a steel bar about 18 inches long with splines on both ends that goes through the trailin arm bearings, then there is a steel rectanular shaped washer with internal splines, the rectangle part of the washer fits into a groove that is milled into the trailing and that is followed by a fiber nut, there is no rubber bushings on the rear susepension other than shock bushings. i mean yea you can spray everything you wnat too, but when i used to race dirt track you dont spray any kind of substance on the supension of linkages bc the oil would attract dirt/dust and cause excessive wear, jm2cw

I agree wildman....the oil does attract the dirt and dust.

I just wash the underside ( under the plastics) with simple green, la's totally awesome and water. I wouldn't recommend hosing down the rubber with anything that could attract contaminants. Also be sure to clean your grease fittings of any mud/dust/etc... before you re-grease them. this will help keep contaminants out and help your ride last longer before needing replacement parts.

Skids are a must on these machines, especially if you ride anywhere there are rocks. Majority run the Ricochets but some run the BRP skids. The frame spine is a good idea, but not always necessary, I've heard they( brp) have beefed up the frames of the newer models.

Can-am oil is what they recommend, though you can run any full-synthetic oil in them. I would either stick with BRP brand or a name-brand oil. It won't void your warranty if you run a different oil than the BRP stuff. Depending on your ride times and the type of riding you do, you should only need to change the oil once a year, unless you adhere to the maintenence schedule in your operators guide.

All mi know is all my can ams have tons of rubber grommets .
The sway bar goes through them -
And man the shock mounts squeak like heck on the front if you never lube umm .

Also i tore my KQs down to replace all the plastic bushings after 4500 miles - they all looked brand new .
I think spraying them after ever pressure wash is why .
