PostSubject: Trail Surveying at Pickett   Mon Apr 18, 2011 10:31 pm

I was just at Pickett this past weekend, April 15-17 and couldn't help but notice a bunch of orange or pink ribbons tied to branches all along the trails and a survey nail in the ground directly under it. Does anyone know who is surveying the trails and why? It looked professionally done. I dont remember for sure but I think I only saw them on the Kentucky side, which is where I come in at. If you were on the Kentucky side that is all private property. Wayne Lumber Co. owns a good portion of that riding area. They may be getting ready to Timber Cut or Sell some of it. Very Little of the riding area belongs to Pickett State Forest and very little of it is on the Tennessee Side.

That is kind of what I thought too. I always heard a lumber company owned it but wasn't sure who. Just the trails were marked from what I noticed. Maybe they are mapping it for thier use.
