PostSubject: Need KQ 700 Clutch Parts   Thu Nov 10, 2011 11:57 pm

Belt broke and broke primary fixed sheave. Scuffed up the other sheaves.

I would be interested in both inner and outer plastic covers and all the clutch parts in between.

I have already found a couple of pieces so the minimum I need to piece back together is the primary fixed sheave.

The Primary fixed sheave is the cheapest to buy new. You might wanna go that route. I don't have a fixed one....sorry! I would try Ebay...there is some good used parts dealer on there. How bad are the other sheaves messed up?

The moveble primary sheave has a little scratch about midway of the face. The secondary is a little beat up in a couple of spots near the outer edges. I believe I can smooth them all out with some sandpaper. I just wasn't crazy about putting a new fixed sheave with a 3,000 mile moveable sheave. I am helping a friend with this bike so he doesn't have to pay a huge labor bill. This happened on our first ride after having the top end rebuilt. Sad

The new fixed sheave won't hurt it....even with a used moveable. It will actually help it. I have a moveable sheave. It's a friend of mine's. He is using my spare moveable that I had machined down. I going to send it off soon to have Coop45 machine it down as well.

If its deep groves on the moveable I'd see if he wanted to get it machined? It will give him a LOT more low end power. Coop45 or Tony James from Nyroc does them. What kinda belt did you guys use for the replacement? I would get the Dayco XTX if you haven't gotten one already.

If you wanna PM me your email I will email you link's to some guys on Ebay that I have bought parts from. If I can help in any way let me know. That stinks.....it sure caused some damage... affraid

What is the cost to have them machined? I guess we would send both sheaves..? I have already picked up the wet clutch engine cover and the inner plastic cover on ebay. We plan to plasti weld the outer cover. Can the secondary sheaves be machined? I am sending you my e-mail address. I think the only other must have part is the fixed sheave.

No...just need the moveable sheave machined. The Fixed sheave is fixed so it doesn't need to be machined...it would get the belt outta line with secondary. I wouldn't machine the secondary if it was mine. It's already thin. I think they charge around $125 or so. There is a post in the suzuki section on here that Coop made I think.

I haven't posted enough to send PM's, but you may have my e-mail address from when I bought the wheel spacers from you. I was going to send my e-mail so you could send me information on getting all this done. Thanks.

Can anyone tell me the torque for the two bolts that hold the bearing in the wet clutch cover?

The two main bolts for the primary and secondary are 79.5 ft. lbs.

If you look in the Suzuki section on here there should be a link to a service manual you can download.
