PostSubject: Trail from highway 90 to old Hancock grocery near Pickett   Thu Mar 08, 2012 1:39 pm

I just got back from a wonderful weekend of riding at the Pickett area trails. We stayed on the northern side of the trails in Dry Hollow and rode down towards the sandmines and Mineral Pond. One couldn't ask for a better weekend to ride. It was gorgeous and comfortable weather.

We rode over to the new Sunnybrook Parking lot and sandwich store which is the old Hancock grocery and started talking with the new owners for some time. The owners, who are some of the nicest people I have ever met, told us that they get riders that come in for a bite to eat from Pickett and also somewhere off of highway 90. These riders park off of highway 90 somewhere and jump into the woods from there. Then they make their way down to Sunnybrook. I dont know where to go or even to start but that looks like a good long ride. I was wondering if anyone on here has ever done that, and if so, where do you start? Then, where do you go once on the trail? Are there any maps?

My friends and I have hit almost every trail around Dry Hollow and Pickett, including trails that aren't on our maps and trails that have been overgrown for many years. We would like to find some more trails in that area. That is my favorite place to ride. Any help is good help.

Rode that over to highway 90 from the store last year. It is a long ride, and goes thru private property. We asked permission to go over there when we went. Sorry, but no GPS tracks for that ride. Can't find them.

That is kind of what I thought when I was looking at it on google earth. It looks like it would be a good ride for us if it were open for everyone. We always like new trails to check out. I guess its back to bush wacking and exploring some more. Very Happy

Oh, and I wouldn't recommend going down car hauler with ice and snow on it. It can get pretty hairy real quick!

Oh yea! I think the rain is almost as bad as the snow and ice on that trailer.
