PostSubject: Fall at Pickett    Mon Oct 29, 2012 8:29 am

Jack, Brian and Myself headed up to Pickett Saturday to take in the trails and the fall colors. Had a great day on the trails with no rain all day except for the drive up that morning. We parked at Sunny brook and after talking to Carl a bit we headed out on 9, right on 36, we took the first split on 36 which I had never been on and is not on my GPS map, that is one hell of a climb, great trail!..we then went right on 51 to 39, 50, right on 9, to 8 to 3, down 17 , 16 and up 14, to 1 where I had a flat, took 1 to 47, to 21, 26, 19 , 7 , to 3, then left on 53 to granny's crack, when i came out from there almost as soon as you leaveGranny's crack there is a a trail that goes straight down the ridge, we took that and circled around coming out adjacent to 41 on trail 3 just below the sand mine. That made a real nice loop that I didn't know existed. All in all had a great day and the colors were as good as ever.

Always stayed away from going out that way because of back tracking, that made a real nice loop out that way.

I was scared of it to Big G- then one day we just kept going -
I think its the same thing you did - i didnt see a whole lot of other ways to make a loop

I too was at Pickett with a group from Metcalfe Co Sat. I agree Big G, The colors were great. We also parked at Sandwich shop. It was good to talk to Carl and find out that the new owners were going try to keep it going. We only hit a few trails. I don't know it all that well,YET.
