Can someone suggest a trail outline for me to follow at Prentice Cooper. Never been there before. I'm pretty new to riding. Have kids with us. Just want a nice ride with some scenery, nothing too crazy. Prefer my heartbeat not get above 400. Will be there most of the day, let's say 10-4pm. Have a Mule, some dirt bikes, and a Honda Rincon 650.

The trails are easy and all loop back around to the same road, so it's impossible to get lost. It's a good place for beginners, kids, and those just looking to take it easy. You can do nearly all of the trails in a single day's ride.

Go in through the gate and take the 2nd left.  At each Y, go left.  This will eventually bring you back to Tower Rd.

Legal question? I just got my atv (private buy) and haven't been by the courthouse yet. Can I ride at the state park without having paid taxes and got some tag? Is there a tag for this?

You do not need a tag of any kind in the state of TN so you will be fine. Just make sure PC is open as they start closing the trails during hunting season.

We went to Prentice Cooper last Friday (10-18-2013) and had a great time. We will be back. Got lost on Dry Branch/Michener trails, they had more intersections than the map shows which threw us off. Even though we were lost, Dry Branch/Michener trails eventually drove us back to Bluff View trail which got us back to Tower Drive. I understand it is a State Park but I would like to see more signs/markers off of Tower Drive.

The map difference was (which really threw me off) the official map showed Michener trail dead ended into Dry Branch and Dry Branch was from Tower Drive to Tower Drive but it really wasn't that way. It really was, south to north, Dry Branch to Michener trail to Tower Drive and the Michener trail to last part of Dry Branch to Tower Drive might as well have been another separate trail. We need to tell them....Keep the maps up, most of us would happily pay from them to support the park and not be lost for an hour. A couple of them MARKER POSTS on side trails would be awesome. I'm sure they could find some businesses to donate some.

If I was successful at add the map. This is why I was thrown off. The Blue arrow is where I entered. And the red arrow is where we got off. The white line we should have followed but because of lack of mapping/posting we were thrown off. We had a good time, mostly, got into some rough stuff our kids were not ready for but we got though it. We will be back but hope for some more updated maps.

You can check their web site for map updates. The one I posted is 3-4 years old.   Glad you had a good time. Remember, your bit lost as long Asa you have gas. Laughing Also as far as signs go, people keep tearing the down.
