We were out in my jeep yesterday waterfall hunting, hiking and generally raking around like we do... We ran upon some interesting trails with the jeep.
Bledsoe State Forest, TN in Van Buren County.

It was very cool.  Wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the area?

This is the ford we came to of Beaverdam Creek.
I think there is more to find in the area.

Nice pictures but I am not familiar with that area. Looks like fun.

thanks Bamagirl. It was surprisingly pretty and we only ended up there taking a "shortcut". It was a great shortcut. Saved us 15 miles getting to our destination, but wow! Gotta get back and find out what else is around

Sure enuff. We checked out Big Bottom TWRA back in Sept. and then again a couple weeks ago. Ain't no getting across the Caney Fork right now but we had a blast and saw new stuff anyway. I keep on finding more cool stuff we gotta go see! Now I'm wanting to go back there to see the Mill Hole and find out where the rest of those trails end up!? Big Bottom is an area I'm very familiar with. Trails go everywhere. Firestone lake, VF, we even rode to the package store in Spencer once.

oldmustangjunkie, it was pretty cool. We are planning on going back and riding it in later Spring or Summer when the water levels are down enough to make it fordable. Going to hike up to Virgin falls from that end. We'll park down at the Davis Cemetery and go from there. Going to also try to hit up the Rose Cave once the water levels are down enough to make that wet foot crossing.

Do you happen to know anything about the Wilson Ridge Overlook?
Talked to the WMA office yesterday and we also plan to have them open the Ambers Den Road up while we're there to let us drive it down to the river. They said to give them about 3 days notice so they could have it ready.

I've been to the overlook but it's been a while. We went and repelled at a place called High Rock off the WMA a few months ago. There are trails everywhere in that area. Whats the deal with the Amber's Den rd? Is it normally gated and they open it open on request?

oldmustangjunkie, I called and spoke with the TWRA peeps on Monday. They said to give them a call with about 3 day lead time and they'd have it open to ride. It was just overhauled to the tune of $20,000 and is in good condition now and they are wanting to keep it that way. Kenny is wanting to ride down it sometime when we are over there just to say we've had that experience. I want to make it up to Wilson Ridge Overlook, but I'm not sure when that will be. We made it as far out as 0.6 miles from VF to where you cannot take a 4-wheeler any further. The only travel from there on would be on foot.

Hey, I've ridden there a few times in the past. Love the underwater bridge. I lost track of what you were talking about later in this thread. For instance, I never saw that swim hole or the wide water in the other pictures. Is this all in the same area? I'd like to find those two water areas and so forth that you talked about.

Last time I was there, a crap load of area was forested, or whatever. I mean tons of area with trails. Bummer. It's still gorgeous and I do realize they must do what they did.

I need to point out that the rangers told us they prefer atv's there if there is to be any four wheeling at all so they can keep damage down as they had issues in the past with other vehicles. They even have trails deliberately blocked so that jeeps, side by sides, etc, cant use many of the trails. Only horses, hikers and atvs. So if anyone does go to explore? Please do not ruin it for the rest of us by digging out mud holes, taking large vehicles on otherwise narrower trails, and certainly no carrying on and polluting. Or this will be yet ANOTHER place shut down to us. Lots of hunting in this area by the way.

Please answer about the other two photos of water areas as to where they are.

The photos are taken at Big Bottom in White co. The one is a swimming hole. It doesn't look like that in Summer. It gets down to just a literal hole of water as the river dries up and goes underground. But that is one of the good things... the ford.. the other photo becomes crossable then. Yesterday it was worse than what you see there.

Im' a big water person. Love it. Love looking at it. Love driving in it when able. Mostly I like to get IN it. It absolutely KILLS me that most places water levels dive down so low to the point of nearly drying up by the time its arm enough to jump in. I mean it ... kills me.

Check this out, this is my video of the underwater bridge!

I think this link brings up an atv playlist of mine. It might play the entire list. So look on your right, there are all my atv movies and you can select from there.

This all made it occur to me, that I dont have a good video of this area. Stupid me. I'll have to change that.

Very good! I subscribed to you on You tube! Don't you hate when you get to having such a good time you forget to turn on the Go Pro or make a video recording? I enjoy looking back to this stuff myself. I recently realized how many good waterfalls and hikes and such that I have lost the video footage to.
Its not a lot, but I hate to find out its missing and wonder what became of it?!

It usually means an excuse for a repeat trip though!

You too?! Ugh. I went to Houston when the water in the creek was a "perfect" level. I mean it was over the hood of the bikes. Well I got videos of experienced riders doing that thing where they wheelie all the way through it. I was so excited because I've never seen that in person or recorded it. I also recorded my son nearly being swept away by the current on his. LOL. I couldnt' wait to show it off to people... especially non atv'ers. Yeah well. I don't know what happened..... but poof they were gone later. i had cleaned out my stupid dropbox. So they were no longer there. I accidently deleted a folder on my phone, so they werent there, and it was too early for me to have backed them up on computer yet. So they werent there either. I searched my husbands and sons phones to see if they have something. Anything. Nope. Talk about a fail, omg. But that is just one tiny example of the sort of things you are talking about. Most of all, I hate when an outrageous moment happens on the trail ... and it was too fast to grab the camera and hit that record button. Thanks for subscribing!! What a compliment! Oh by the way, one of the rangers told us they opened up more trails right now. I won't be forgetting said camera when I go back again. All I have to remember our trips there is the blurry under the water bridge film and a blurry silly vid of my son drinking a beer from the bottom for the first time. That's it. That's all she wrote. Can you say I'm stupid? I can.

Update on Bledsoe State Forest.  We went.  It is not worth making a special trip out there for this place.  Went in April 2017.  Has a few trails. Not even half days riding in there. Few pretty spots. Primitive camping available free of charge no reservations required. Fishing. Swimming.  Picnicking.  It is just not very big.  It has been "improved" since we were there the first time. It is less appealing since the so called improvements as a riders destination.   It is more vehicle friendly now for stuff you'd drive out on a main road.  If you're in the area stop in and check it out.  Its nice. It is a long way to go just for that.   Old Rocky Ford
