PostSubject: Kawasaki Teryx   Wed Mar 25, 2009 9:19 pm

My Dad is thinking about getting a Teryx to use around his farm. Are there any known problems
with these? Would you all get a Teryx over a Rhino?

Thanks

The only problem I know with a Teryx is that once you ride one.......You don't want to ride anything else.

If i was ever to choose between the two i'd go with the Terx. I'm going to have to try and get my dad into a sxs one day but his might be either the Rzr or the new can-am sxs. We don't have a farm and we don't do any hunting.

The belt is by far the biggest complaint with the Teryx. Noise and heat are the other problems. The Teryx is alot more stable than a Rhino and has more power too.

Whats wrong with the belt?
Is the heat coming from the engine? the exhaust?
Noise from the engine?

The noise is from the exhaust and tranny, the heat is from the exhaust and motor. I put header wrap on and insulated all the plastic but haven't tried it out yet. The belt adjustment is a PITA and needs to be done after the first 20 hrs.

Most sxs have the heat / noise in the cab issue , so no matter which one you choose , you'll be dealing with that issue .

SO much more stable than a Rhino for sure , more power , not much , but more .

08's are carbs 09's are FI . Great deals on 08 leftovers , only the LE has the dumpbed

top , digital dash , 1/2 windshield . Stuff you can add yourself , but comes in the LE pkg .

I'm happy with mine so far .

They fixed the all the belt exhaust and alot of other things on the 09 EFI Teryx's.

If you change the tire size you need to put a stiffer secondary spring in it....it you go up to 28 inch tires.

The Teryx belts are alot like the Brutes. If you put bigger tires you have to put a secondary spring. The spring is $20. The problem I noticed alot of guy rode them around Everywhere in High Range......When its gets rough and real steep Low Range....I gurantee you if you put a atleast a Green secondary all that will stop. The was a guy at the shop back last fall that was on his 3rd belt......but he had 28's on it. I know its aggravating having to put a secondary spring in it....but if you don't Low range is your best friend. Smile The problem is they have too much torque for the stock secondary....really. The 09's EFI has some changes to the good. The belt housing is totally different. They do have a stiffer secondary that i just learned last week. They change stuff for the better.......a bunch of small changes from 08....I think they were the science rat... Laughing
